Creativity is everywhere around us, in so many various forms, and it is a blessing. I find it a key element to spicing up life, to have new experiences and think out of the box. What fascinates me, too, is how imaginative, resourceful and innovative people are.
Today’s creativity is strongly focused on technology. I call this trend ‘Creativity for Technology’. It is hardly surprising when one considers the myriads of possibilities behind modern technology. It has an integral part of our lives, to the point it is quasi-unavoidable. Well, after all, I am in front of my laptop as I type this article, and you are reading it on another screen, could it be your laptop, mobile or tablet.
I have always loved technology, but lately, the need to change my habits has become stronger and stronger. No, I do not want to instantly pick up my phone when a message beeps: I am working/reading/chatting with a friend. Yes, you can see I have read your message. It is not urgent, so I will reply later when I can do it properly. Please do not be offended that I do not drop everything to send you a rushed response. Technology is becoming rather overwhelming sometimes and we are way too dependent on it in our everyday life, expecting an immediate solution or connection thanks to it. It is addictive, and like any addiction, it has negative sides.
We are also getting blasé with how easy our modern lives is, thanks to the instant support of our mobile GPS, online banking, taxi apps, internet calls, to name just a few. I do miss my A-Z maps
However, despite these misgivings, I am still a big fan of technology. I admire it for its creativity and as a tool for optimised efficiency in our life – as long as it remains a tool, not a crutch.
Sometimes, I come across a new invention that reminds me one of the technology’s best traits, ‘Technology for Creativity’. Technology does not
have to be practical, useful in our daily life, a dry machine or process; it can also fuel our imagination and push further the limits of our creativity. Rather magical, isn’t it?
