One of my mother’s dreams for the past 40 years has been to visit Samarkand, a key city on the Silk Road between China and the world on its west. Finally, last year in 2023, we booked the trip to discover the central Asian country together. The Uzbek heritage, with its blend of culture, influences, regimes, and religions is captivating. Its landscape is stunning, and the architecture is beautiful. The best is the people: warm, funny, welcoming, respectful and culture. We have had so many interesting and enlightening conversations thanks to them. The long wait was worth it for Maman: she is thrilled and under the charm of Uzbekistan. What a fascinating country! I hope you will have the opportunity to discover it as well, it took me by surprise, in the best way possible.
