Of Timelessness

Early August, I went back home to South of France and stayed in an old, very old house (dating from the mid-17th century). The timeless feel of the place was rather magical.

By night, this was accentuated by the play between total darkness – thanks to the thick old wooden shutters – and rays of light from the odd doors opened. The atmosphere had such an eeriness, I couldn’t help but wonder if a ghost would glide in front of me at any moment.

By day, summer heat, sunshine and shadows blended to give a serenity that contrasted with the buzzing life of the small town just down the road.

The magic of light even extended to the airport waiting lounge, without the feel that time had stopped its course a long time ago though. My flight was late, and I kept my eyes on my watch…
