Being in a creative flow is addictive!

Three years in the making, but finally, I have put the final coat on the artwork above and, I am thrilled! Acrylic paint on a plank of wood, partly covered with press cuttings to inspire you that today is going to be your day, this new piece of my collection is titled ‘Shake That Ass!’.

As usual when I take my box of paint and brushes out, one artwork is just not enough. Being in a creative flow is addictive! I had a few ideas which had been simmering for some time, and they were ready to come out of the pots.

First, I explored both the shiny and the sombre, and found there is light in both. Brightness and darkness alike take you on a journey, and this voyage in itself brings out light. Texture and layers were my focus to achieve depth as well as motion. It sounds intense, but really these two artworks do not take themselves too seriously, as their names reveal: the dark painting is ‘Happy Painting’, and the gold painting is ‘The Artoid Tablet’.

To finish before I put the paint and brushes away, I could not help but started a game of ‘Gatekeepers, Revisited’, and unsurprisingly ended up with ‘Of Words & Art’ on canvas, with paper and acrylic paint.

Creativity flowed, and I am the happier for it.

Thank you for reading,
Yours, Virginie
