My parents taught me many essential lessons from early childhood. One was to appreciate small things: the small details in nature’s beauty, the small gestures of care and love, the small tricks making daily life easier and, of course, the small steps that can lead to big achievements. They always told me to keep in mind the big picture, the big dreams and goals, while reminding me that everything in life must be built carefully, stone after stone, to give it strong foundations and values.
While this certainly plays with my organised nature and supports a positive attitude, this philosophy also focuses on enjoying the little pleasures in life. I treasure my creative moments! Being entirely in the present, with the freedom to express myself with an artwork, or to seize a feeling through a place or beings with my camera… Time becomes suspended. This immersion in creativity is bliss.
This artistic creativity is, sadly, only occasional, more an interest and a love than even a part-time occupation. Still, it is as much a part of my life and of who I am as my optimising and storytelling activities. Maybe one day, I will do the three equally.
